DIY: Confetti Garland

I am a craft researcher. I have a little file on my computer full of things that I have found and want to try. Unfortunately 8 out of 10 things I attempt don't exactly turn out as planned. Nonetheless, I continue in unabashed confidence that eventually I will succeed and make something lovely.

I found a tutorial for confetti garland out on the web (can't for the life of me recall where, probably google), that had directions for what sounded like a pretty easy and basic version of a confetti garland involving ribbon and vellum. I tweaked it a bit, and now we have the following:

Confetti Garland (as adapted by the artist)

You'll need:

fishing line
vellum (in color of your choice)
medium size needle
circular hole punch (around 1.3 inches in size)

  • Use the hole punch to punch circles in the vellum, as many as possible
  • After circles are ready, thread your fishing line through the needle
  • Run the needle through the first circle three times (down up down)
  • Continue on each circle, situating the circles on the line as you go
  • Tie the ends off after completing the length desired
  • Heads up for the line getting tangled- store carefully
