Sometimes, when I pause and ponder what life will be like when I am no longer planning a wedding (and learning all about home ownership, and trying to get a design career off the ground). I wonder how I will fill the time that is currently inundated with frills and hot glue. I wonder if I will be seriously bummed that I am no longer allowed to shamelessly stalk wedding websites, or if I will have a hard time kicking the habit. I wonder if the crafty sparkle will fade from my eye and I will become hooked on Netflix (even more than I am currently) and never be inspired again.
And then I sort of snort with laughter, having realized that weddings are creative because we live in a creative world, not because the rest of the world is void of all interesting ideas and pretty things.
As much as I love weddings, and all the excellent ideas and crafts they entail, I am equally as drawn to craftiness of the every-day variety. In fact, when I am procrastinating, these are the crafts that draw my eye even more often than the DIY-garter that doubles a champagne flute as well as a ace bandage for your sore dancing feet.
Every-day craftiness that I am drooling over this week (all from Pinterest, by the way, someone please find a cure to Pinterest addiction, this is getting out of hand).
Doily Lamp
I have aspirations of making these for the guest room or for over the "I'm-an-awkward-height" bar that we have in the kitchen/dining area. I may not even bother to put lights in them at all- they are just THAT pretty. Seriously- how do people come up with this stuff? Every time I get what I think is a clever crafting idea I end up with masking tape wrapped around my fingers and and holes in my jeans.
Google Map Envelopes
This may well be the coolest idea that envelopes have ever had. Maybe it's just because I am the most visual person alive, but seeing where the letter came from will probably register a lot better than a return address. Plus- its really clever. And cute. I love things that are clever and cute.
Firefly Jars
Glow paint in a mason jar. There are so many possibilities with this. Nightlight? I could sure use one. Cool holiday decor? Love me some of that. Porch lights? Absolutely. Glow paint might be my new favorite thing. (Besides you, smartest, no amount of glow paint will sway my love for you. Unless it has sparkles, then we may have to talk).
Bleach pen shirts
I am sort of hooked on the idea of making t-shirts. I went through a phase where I very avidly did iron-on-transfers to many of my t-shirts. Though it did the trick, it was never as clean and professional as I had hoped. Bleach pins have the benefit of not being printed ON or IN- which is pretty awesome. However, I am notoriously unlucky with ideas like this. The instructions say you can use chalk and trace over the chalk when you get the design you want drawn out. I might get brave and do it, one of these days.
Date box
I don't know if this really counts as a craft, so much as a good idea. I saw this listed as "a perfect gift for newlyweds", but I think that its the perfect gift to give yourself also. Something about having one date planned every month (and already paid for) seems like such an excellent idea. (The smartest did something like this a few years ago for Valentine's day with a planner full of planned dates. I know- you lovely ladies are swooning, aren't you? Hands off- he is most definitely spoken for. And now that I play soccer I know how to kick you in the shins ten times as hard as I used to).
So there you have it- proof that a post-wedding creative slump will not overtake me and cause me to eat my hair and wear socks on my head (I know- you were worried).

I am obsessed with that doily lamp!!! I've been dying to try it- but realize I dont have a house to put it in :( I'd say you have to try it because I want to hear first hand how it goes!
I particularly like the firefly jars and the date box. Thanks for sharing! :)
Pinterest!! I seriously think I need an intervention.
